The Mendip Hills - The hills were designated an ‘area of outstanding natural beauty’ in 1972 and covers 198sq Kms from Bleadon to Chewton Mendip and incorporates 3 beautiful gorges. The area is well known for its wildlife and geology.
Cheddar Caves & Gorge - These are fascinating Caves situated in Britain's largest Gorge, an area of natural beauty.

Wookey Hole Caves (6.7m) - The caves are some of the largest in the UK, with spectacular chambers. Let the guides tell you about the myths and legends that surround the caves. See traditional paper being made. Play the old fashioned penny machines in the old paper mill.
The Somerset Levels and Moors (9.2M) - One of Somerset’s most protected landscapes for biodiversity. They are also probably the most vulnerable resulting in its huge wildlife interest.
Axbridge (2.3m) - A medieval town granted a Royal Charter in 1202 when King John built his hunting lodge there. Whilst there is much evidence of rebuilding and re-facing of buildings in Axbridge in the 18th and 19th centuries, the heart of Axbridge has changed little and it retains a number of early listed buildings in the Square and lining the main streets.
Wells (9m) - The smallest city in England with streams running down the high street. The wonderful Cathedral has unique architecture which includes a wooden mechanical clock. Stroll round the town and enjoy the gardens at the Bishop's Palace.
Shooting (3.3M) - Somerset's only Premier CPSA (Clay Pigeon Shooting Association) rated venue. Located at the foot of the Mendip Hills it is set in beautiful grounds with stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
